Choose settings for this computer
Your name, your folders, and how Nearfield behaves while you work.
This computer
The card “This computer” has these rows:
- “Your name”. Nearfield looks for this name when someone @-mentions you. It stays on this computer.
- “Where Nearfield looks for your music”. Press “Open the folder list”. See Choose where Nearfield looks for samples.
- “Account”. Press “Open account”. See Manage your account.
- “Contacts”. Press “Open contacts”. See Connect with a person.
- “Diagnostics”. Press “Open”. See Crash reports.
Further down
Other cards on Settings hold these choices:
- “Watch my folders for changes”. Nearfield checks your project folders and updates the library by itself.
- “Pause all sending and receiving”. Nearfield stops sending and receiving on this computer. Nothing is deleted on any computer.
- “Start Nearfield when I log in”. Nearfield starts by itself when you log in.
- “Send usage counts”. A few counts once a day. Never your music, file names or project names.
- “Notifications”. See below.
Notifications
A desktop notification tells you about a new project or a new task while you work in another app. The card “Notifications” has a switch for each kind:
- “When someone sends you a project”.
- “When someone gives you a task”. See Give a task to a collaborator.
- “When you save a project on a computer that does not have it”.
- “Play a sound when a note or a new version lands”.
The first three are on until you turn them off. The choices are saved on this computer only. Notifications come when your computers sync, not at the moment someone acts.
