Listen links

A listen link lets someone hear a bounce in a browser. They do not need Nearfield.

Steps

  1. On the project page, open the “…” menu at the top and press “Make a listen link”. Or press “Listen link” beside a bounce.
  2. Choose how long it lasts under “Link lasts”.
  3. Press “Make the link”.

What the listener does

The listener opens the link in a browser. They do not need Nearfield or an account. They type their name, and they can leave a note or a task at a moment in the song.

Each note or task comes into the project’s notes or tasks with the time in the bounce. Nearfield fetches new ones when the Inbox refreshes, at most once a minute.

More about this

Press “Stop” to end the link. The link asks once more, in its row: press “Stop” again, or “Cancel”.

Press “Reset” to make a new link for the same bounce. The old link stops working for everyone who has it. Send the new link to the people who should still hear it.

To let the listener download the file, or to stop it, use the “Allow download” switch on the link under “Listen links”. The link stays the same. A person who already downloaded the file keeps it.

A link you make on the master plays each new master you export, on the same link. While the “Update with new masters” switch on the link is on, everyone who has the link hears each new master, also if the link was passed on. Turn it off to keep one exact mix. A new master from a collaborator waits until you press “Update now”. A listener can also play the 2 masters before the newest. Each note says which version it was left on.
